The Panda Cub's first holidays,
and a whole lot more!
Yes, it's been a LONG, LONG, LONG time since Cub's Daddy had a chance to update the site, and everybody's been asking for news of their favorite Cub. While long overdue, here are some of the cuter pics from the end of 2006 and the beginning of 2007 for you! We're sure they're worth the wait, and there are more to come as soon as Cub's Mommy gets the other pics to Daddy.
Accompanying Mommy
Since Cub is definitely a Momma's Boy, he doesn't like to let his Mommy go places without him. Here are some pics of Cub with his Mommy at some of her school functions. He's certainly getting better about that these days, though.
With Mommy on a hike with the Osteopathic Teaching Fellows...
And with Mommy's classmates & other teaching fellows at school...
Cub even manages to make his way out with Mommy for a dinner with one of the faculty members and steals his pen.
Since the pen was from Russia, perhaps it reminded him of Uncle Pavel Tsatsouline.
This little Cub certainly isn't lacking for attention, is he? Then again, he's almost always full of smiles and laughter, so it's easy to see why this little bear is so loveable!
HALLOWEEN!
Cub met his first Halloween in typical Cub fashion. While the preparation was a lot of fun, Cub handled the joy of trick or treating with typical Cubstyle... he fell asleep after the 2nd house. :-)
Here's Cub at Auntie Laurie's house, riding a pumpkin.
And here's Cub playing in a pumpkin patch that he went to with Mommy & his Grandma & Grandpa...
"Hey, this is heavy! Can I get some help over here!"
Perhaps feeling the influence of his father's Delaware upbringing, he starts getting into the agrarian groove...
"This here's a mighty fine squash, Sir!"
And later, he even gets into the spirit of the season, jumping into disguise.
"Think anyone'll recognize me?"
CHRISTMAS
While we don't have pics of Cub's first Thanksgiving... at least not here on this computer... We do have this 1 pic of his first Christmas morning, taken from his Daddy's phone. There are probably more on someone's digital camera. We just have to find them.
Oh, and there's 1 more pic of the family with Santa as he visits the Kuo's house...
Similarly, there were a TON of really cute pics taken on New Year's Day, but they're probably floating around in someone's memory card. Hopefully, someone will remember to e-mail them to Cub at pandacub@markcheng.us
In the meantime, we have these 3 pics of Cub with his cousin, Gideon, who's the daughter of Courtney's cousin, Tomi.
"Nice legs!", opines Cub.
However, Gideon warns Cub, "Keep your hands to yourself!"
With the aid of their parents & grandparents, Gideon tries to escape, but Cub gives chase.
Later, Gideon reminds Cub to play nice.
And finally here are some pics of Cub's first trip to the
SAN DIEGO ZOO!!!
Cub actually slept through most of the Zoo, since stroller rides tend to do that to him. The one pic we took at the panda exhibit before he fell asleep looked about as blurry as Uncle Stephen's vision after a night of tequila. He did, however, wake up in time to experience the petting zoo.
With Mommy's help, he walks up to the goat, mumbling something about qing-zhen food.
Unaware that the goat actually understood Mandarin Chinese, Cub could not figure out why the goat seemed offended at the idea of being barbecued.
After a tiring day at the Zoo, Cub sits down for a nice dinner at a local restaurant.
Assorted Cubness: Here are some other random pics of Cub.
Travelling
Cub likes going for rides in the car, where, like his father, he tends to nod off and fall asleep.
Cub like to use all forms of transit. Cub starts throwing game even on the bus.
He also likes to just hang out with his buddy, Lion, and catch the game.
With Auntie Jamie
He really loves being out & about with Auntie Jamie, though. Just look at that big smile!
And I guess he certainly likes being in with Auntie Jamie too.
Gambling: Don't think that this little Cub is without vice. His Cantonese roots might start to bloom here in Vegas.
Of course, Cub would deny that vehemently.
"What?"
